| Core Tip |
The long-term efficacy of the first commercially available endoluminal suturing device for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Endocinch, was evaluated. In the 4-year follow-up period, the subset of GERD patients that benefit from endoscopic gastroplication kept declining gradually. Up to 80% of patients again required acid-suppressive medication, making this endoscopic treatment procedure unsuccessful for the majority of GERD patients. |
