Core Tip |
According to previous studies, sarcopenia is associated with a poorer prognosis in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients. We analyzed the prognostic role of sarcopenia in 56 mCRC patients treated with first line chemotherapy. Neither sarcopenia nor muscle mass loss was significantly associated with survival. Other prospective studies are needed to clarify the role of sarcopenia in mCRC patients. Moreover, greater efforts should be made to diagnose sarcopenia earlier so as to soon correct strength and muscle mass, and thus improve patient tolerability to treatments and survival. |
