Core Tip |
Compelling evidences support that diabetes mellitus increases the risk of coronavirus disease 2019 complications, as well as the overall syndrome coronavirus 2 case-fatality. Different reports have suggested the putative involvement of several molecular mechanisms underlying this increased risk. We herein discuss the contribution of the activation of the receptor for advanced-glycation end-products axis to the higher risk for severe illness reported in diabetes patients with coronavirus disease 2019. |
