Core Tip |
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder that impacts quality of life. Endoscopic anti-reflux therapies are intended to offer an alternative for patients unwilling to undergo surgical treatment or take lifelong medication. Several techniques, such as transoral incisionless fundoplication, nonablative radiofrequency, plication methods, and anti-reflux mucosectomy, have shown encouraging results but their role in the management of GERD remains controversial. Careful patient selection and awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of each technique are essential to optimize outcomes. We herein provide an updated review of the technical aspects, clinical success, and safety of the principle endoscopic anti-reflux procedures. |
