| Core Tip |
Studies of minimally invasive surgery for insertional Achilles tendinopathy are limited. Therefore, to establish this surgery, the following techniques must be minimally invasive: (1) Exostosis resection at the Achilles tendon insertion; (2) Debridement of degenerated Achilles tendon; (3) Reattachment using anchors or augmentation using flexor hallucis longus tendon transfer; and (4) Excision of the posterosuperior calcaneal prominence. This article reviewed studies from these four perspectives to establish minimally invasive surgery for insertional Achilles tendinopathy. In addition, studies on ultrasound-guided surgeries and dorsal percutaneous dorsal wedge calcaneal osteotomy as minimally invasive surgery were reviewed. |
