Inflammatory bowel disease; Crohn’s disease; Ulcerative colitis; Oncostatin M; Prognosis |
| Core Tip |
Higher Oncostatin M (OSM) expression/levels are found to be associated with worse disease outcomes which shows that OSM can be used as a s surrogate marker of poor prognosis in inflammatory bowel disease patients treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor based therapies. Thus, OSM appears to be an attractive biomarker for patient selection and clinical decision-making. However, owing to the presence of heterogeneity in included studies, this evidence should be refined in future studies. |
