Key Words Hepatitis C; Peginterferon; Sofosbuvir; Direct-acting antivirals
Core Tip Peginterferon is responsible for many side effects. Direct-acting antiviral drugs represent a break-through in hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapy. Sofosbuvir is the first compound to enter the market with Pegin-terferon-free combination regimens. The next few years are expected to introduce more new drugs in the market of HCV therapy with complete elimination of pegylated interferon and ribavirin combination therapy.
