This study proposed to analyze spontaneous abortion associated with placental colonization by Mollicutes within an epidemiological perspective, using a cross-sectional design, which involved data and biological material collection from women hospitalized for spontaneous abortion or for term delivery. Microbial identification in biological samples occurred by real-time -polymerase chain reaction and the collected data were used to perform descriptive, univariate and multivariate analyzes. A 73.0% prevalence of Mollicutes among women who had spontaneous abortion was noted and among women who had an abortion, there was an 8.12 chance for placental colonization by at least one of the Mollicutes, compared to those who completed pregnancy. |
