This is a prospective study on 51 hospitalized patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia in which we investigated if fecal calprotectin correlates with SARS-CoV-2 intestinal shedding. We found that high fecal calprotectin levels is a common finding among hospitalized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, especially those with SARS-CoV-2 fecal shedding. Obese COVID-19 patients shows high fecal viral shedding. |
